We're Sarah and Sam Duncan, and we're all about farming, family, and creating dog rolls that we're genuinely proud of. At Impact, we're passionate about using top-quality ingredients, and we're excited to share that all our goodness comes straight from New Zealand, and is crafted locally in Feilding, in The Manawatu.
About 3 years ago, we found ourselves on the hunt for high-quality and reasonably priced dog food. As farmers, we get it – there's often a lot of filler and bulking agents in dog food to keep costs down. But when your farm, like our Otairi Station, has up to 60 dogs to feed every day, what you feed them matters. It's not just about keeping them full; it's about giving them the quality, protein-rich, and high-fat meals that keep their energy levels up for the entire working day.
So, we took matters into our own hands. We partnered with nutritionists and manufacturers to create our own recipes, refusing to compromise on quality. We're our own customers, after all, and we stand by what we say and do. The result? Our Impact dog food range – Pure Food for Dogs!
A bit more about us: Sam comes from a farming family and has been working with dogs for two decades. He's even competed successfully in New Zealand Dog trials and manages Otairi along with a few other family farms. As for me, Sarah, I've always had a soft spot for animals and love the rural life. Together, we have three kiddos who are just as passionate about farming as we are, getting involved in all the activities and learning how to be caretakers of the land.

The Otairi Station History
Nestled alongside the Turakina River, approximately 12 kilometres from Hunterville to the Otairi Homestead, Otairi encompasses the typical Central North Island Hill country. This picturesque landscape, ranging from 1000 to 2500 feet in altitude, showcases two distinctive soil types—a sandstone block reminiscent of Mangaweka, and a papa block similar to the Taihape Hill country.
Owned and managed by members of the Duncan family, Otairi has a rich history rooted in the pioneering landscape of New Zealand. Seven generations ago, the Duncans embarked on a courageous journey to settle in a land they knew little about except its name. Their determination, resilience, and the willingness to face years of struggle mirrored the challenges faced by many early settlers. What set this family apart was their unwavering dedication to overcoming adversities—a spirit passed down through subsequent generations.
For many years, the hearts and souls of hard-working whanau has been poured into the land, and it’s own stories have been made in its hills and its gorges – the mishaps and misadventures, the struggles, and the triumphs, the setbacks, the storms, the good seasons, and the hard. Scores of men and women have worked here and wound their own yarns with that of the family – the managers, shepherds and shearers, musters and fencers. Animals have come and gone: the stock, and those unsung workers, the dogs, and the horses. The land holds all of these stories.
The Duncan family's success story is a testament to hard work, the courage to embrace innovation, and the loyalty of the individuals who worked the land. The foresight of new generations ensures that the dreams of the Duncan forefathers live on, creating a legacy that reflects the enduring spirit of those who sought a better life in the vast landscapes of New Zealand.
Our Process
In our production process, we adhere to sustainable practices while using premium New Zealand-sourced ingredients. Our carefully selected ingredients include high-quality Venison, Lamb, Beef, (liver, lung, heart, kidney), Honey, Soy, Fish Oil, and essential Vitamins and Minerals. We prioritise transparency in our sourcing and production, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality. To maintain freshness, we use preservatives in a responsible manner, allowing us to deliver nutritionally-balanced meals with every serve, to our canine friends!
